ABOUT UCD CANOE CLUB

UCD Canoe Club is a canoe and kayak club based in University College Dublin, Belfield. The club was founded by Barry McIntyre in 1975.
UCD Canoe Club is one of UCD's most vibrant and active sports clubs. Indoor training in UCD's pool twice weekly, river trips around Dublin, Meath and Wicklow any given Saturday, plenty of social nights and unforgettable weekends away to destinations nationwide.

We offer river running, whitewater, freestyle, canoe polo and long-distance kayaking and cater for all standards - from beginners to experts. Our year starts with flat water trips, then progresses gradually to rivers with weirs and rapids.

During the year, there are opportunities to participate in Canoeing Ireland kayaking skills training and assessments, which offer a framework for developing personal skills. First aid courses and river safety and rescue courses are also run, and in 2020 6 club members participated in instructor training.

We supply all the gear you'll need (wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, boats, paddles, spray decks) but encourage members to bring old runners and non-cotton layers to stay warm.
